Corn-Row Twists With Curls

The night before we did this style, I washed her hair, added a little gel, then did some braids all over her head, while it was still wet. (Probably 10-12 braids.) We took these out in the morning, and ta-da! Curls!

I parted out the 3 rows on top first. Twist each section, close to the scalp and run a bobby pin from the back, to the front of the twist. Then, add the little clips to keep everything in place. Next, I scooped up the sides, twisted some more, and added these twists to both side rows. Spray a little hairspray to keep the flyaways to a minimum.

This one has actually been sitting in my hair folder for a couple of months. I'm going through all my old stuff right now and "cleaning it out." It's been interesting trying to figure out which pictures go with which style and trying to remember the instructions. I really need to find a better way to keep my stuff more organized! What can I say, I guess I'm "hairbrained."

Tuck and Flip Braid Piggies

I love these tuck and flip braids because there are no elastics showing. The pigtails just spout right out of the braid! For instructions on how to do them, go here.

Elastic Pony Crosses With Ribbons

Do a part down the middle, and one on each side, all the way down. I did the elastics in the middle sections first. Part and cross the hair all the way to the bottom. Do both of the side sections by just adding the previous pony straight down. Add the ribbon last. Pull everything together with a messy pony at the bottom and add a bow.

I did a similar style awhile ago here. This is just the opposite, (hair crosses in the middle and ribbons on the sides.) (I've been trying to simplify my instructions because I'm thinking most of these can be figured out by looking at the finished pictures. Let me know if you want more pictures taken during the process and I'll go back to that.)

Elastic Braids With An Upside-Down Pony

My little boy thinks this looks like "Genie Hair," can't say that I disagree!

I'm thinking you can figure out how to get to this point by looking at the pictures.
Pull everything into one. (After looking at these pics, I think I like it better left just like this. But, if you want an upside down pony, proceed to the next step.)
There's already sort of a hole to go through, I just stretched it out a little.
Do an upside down pull-through by pulling the pony up through the hole and over the top.

Olympic Hair

Let me start by saying, this didn't turn out quite how I envisioned it. But, it was still fun. I've had this in my "hair folder" for a couple of weeks and almost forgot about it. I thought I better get it posted before the Olympics are over!

Make 4 ponies on the corners of her head, and a low pony in the middle.

Do a chain with 3 links, going over to the elastic on the other side, adding the ends to the elastic.
Now, do a chain with 2 links, going through the 3 and over to the other lower elastic. (You could probably do a better job at tying these in with the first 3. This was my first attempt and I didn't want to go back and re-do. Just learn from my mistakes! LOL) Tie both ends in with the pony. Ta-da! Olympic rings.

This actually turned out a little better in person, the lighting in this picture is weird and doesn't show all 5 rings very well. Whatever!

(If you need instructions for the chains, visit "chains" in my labels.)

Eighties Knotted Up Do

Does anyone else remember those awesome banana clips from the eighties? This style totally reminds me of how I used to wear mine. (Ratted on the side.)

Section off a piece on the bottom and tie a knot (I feel like I've explained how to tie a knot like a gazillion times, but here we go again.) Wrap the hair around a few fingers and pull the ends up through where your fingers were. Put a rubber band as close to the knot as you can to keep it tight.

Section off another piece of hair in the middle of her head. Start to tie the knot by wrapping the hair around your fingers. This time, pull the ends of the knot you just tied through the hole, and then finish off the knot the regular way. (You will have 2 ends, as shown.) Leave the first knots ends hanging to the side.
Take the last section of hair left on top and tie another knot the same way (adding the ends of the previous knot.) After you have your three knots tied, you will be left with 2 ends on the top. Leave one end out hanging and send the other end twisting down the other side, through the space between the first and second knot.
Pull everything tight and pin with some clips.
Now, to achieve the true eighties look............rat, rat, rat. And spray, spray, spray.
If you don't like the eighties look and want something more elegant, curl these ends into ringlets instead of ratting them. That would be so cute!Sorry if my explanation is as clear as mud. This was a hard one to explain in words.

Twist and Twirl Messy Updo

Start by making a pony in the middle of her head, leaving the edges out all the way around. On the last pull through the elastic, only pull halfway through. (This part isn't shown, but since my daughter's hair is so long, I pulled the bottom part up and brought it back through the elastic to make the bun, if your daughters hair is short enough for one pull through, leave the ends out on the top instead of the bottom.)

Start parting out a section of hair and twist the heck out of it, adding the twisted piece to the bun.
Go all the way around her head. With the extra ends you will have from the twisted pieces on the bottom, twist them together and wrap them around the initial elastic.

Piece and spread everything you have left, to make a messy bun.

A Giveaway, YAY!

This drawing is now closed. I'll be doing more prizes in the future, so check back for another chance to win.
As promised...................
I am giving away lots and lots of elastics this time-since that's mostly what I use while making my styles. I've tried to make bows, but sadly I'm just not good at it. So this is what you'll get.The little elastics in the container aren't the best for thick hair, they break every time! But, they are great for babies. And, the container is so nice for keeping everything from scattering. Obviously, the bigger elastics are better for thick hair, not for babies. So, a little something for both hair types. All you have to do to enter the giveaway is: Leave a comment on this post.As usual, I'll be selecting the winner using Random.org. So, it's all fair!I'm closing this drawing Saturday 8/9 at 11:00 p.m. (mountain time.) Yes, I first said 6:00. But, I'm extending it a few hours. I'll post the winner Saturday night or Sunday morning. (Depending on what I have going.)

2 Half-Knots With A Messy Pony

Part the top to the side or middle, then part all the way across her head forming two sections. Pull the rest of the hair back into a pony and don't pull through all the way the last time through the elastic. (As you can see, her shirt is wet. This style is easier if you get the hair soaking wet before you start.)
You're going to take the hair on one side of the part, split it in 2 sections and tie it like you are starting to tie a knot. (Or a shoe.) Take the 2 ends and put one over the top of the pony and one under the pony. Wrap them around and secure with an elastic.
Do the same thing to the other side.
To finish off the pony, it all depends on how long her hair is. If it's on the shorter side.....just tie a bow around what you've got. If it's a little longer, you'll need to pull the end of the pony up and through the elastic again, like we did here. You can't see it in this pic. but, there's a loop of hair underneath.

Variation On The Classic Ponytail

Sorry if these pictures are a little confusing. I forgot to take a few along the way, so you'll have to piece it together.

Make a part halfway down her head, all the way around. Put in a temporary pony on top (to keep it out of the way.)

Now, here's the confusing part. The view of what's going on with the sides isn't shown right now, you'll see it further down on the finished product. But, you do this step now..................

Make 1 little pony in front. Then, make 2 ponies behind it and add the hair from the first one. Now, cross the hair from the two ponies and add it to the 2 ponies behind it. Keep going (on both sides) until you reach almost the middle, as shown..................

Take the temporary pony out and smooth it down to where the final pony will be, adding the piece on the bottom you left out. (And, I promise, she doesn't usually have a mullet.) Okay, now HERE'S the view of the side stuff.............And another view, just to make sure you can see what's going on............... Now, to finish off the pony..............You'll be left with 4 strands of hair. Take the bottom 2, cross them over the top of the pony, wrap them to the bottom and secure with an elastic. Now, take the top 2 strands, and again, cross them over the pony and wrap them around to the bottom. Secure with another elastic. This would've been cute left just like this.........But, we had some extra time. So, we added a few curls.
